Rev. Dr. Timothy Loftin is a native Baltimorean.  He received his early academic training at Baltimore City Public Schools and the Community College of Baltimore.  He received his early spiritual training at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Baltimore City.


As an young adult, he served in many capacities at Knox; usher, choir member, trustee, church treasurer.  In 1978, he accepted his calling into the Gospel ministry.  He furthered his studies in Christian Education at the Baltimore School of the Bible and St. Mary’s Seminary.  He received a Doctorate of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary in 1986.  After serving as Associate Minister and Assistant Pastor at the Zion Hill Baptist Church and the Zion Baptist Church, Rev. Loftin was chosen by God to organize the Pleasant Rock Baptist Church, in July 1984.  Dr. Loftin has served diligently and faithfully as Pastor of Pleasant Rock Baptist Church for thirty-two years.


Pastor Loftin has also served in the community as President of the Baptist Pastor’s Conference of Baltimore City and Vicinity, and Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention of Maryland and Delaware.  Currently, Pastor Loftin serves on the Board of Directors for the Hampton Ministers’ Conference, Chairman of Finance of the United Baptist Missionary Convention of Maryland, and Chaplain for several funeral homes in Baltimore City.


He is married to Dr. Doris J. Loftin.  Recently, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.  They are the parents of 3 daughters, 7 grandchildren and 2 son-in laws.


Pastor Loftin is truly a servant of God who is determined to live for Christ.  He is a Nobody who has come to tell Everybody about Somebody who can save Anybody.

Ministerial Staff




Rev. Dr. Doris Loftin is a native Baltimorean.  She is a graduate of Morgan State University with a bachelor's degree in Education, and a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work with a master's degree in clinical social work. Dr. Loftin has furthered her studies at the Baltimore School of the Bible and the Arlington Bible College.  She is the recipient of a Doctorate of Humane Letters from the Eastern Theological Seminary and College in Lynchburg, Virginia.


Dr. Loftin is the Immediate Past President of the Greater Baltimore Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows Fellowship and Second Vice President of the Women's Auxiliary of the United Baptist Missionary Convention of Maryland, Inc. She is the Dean of the Maryland Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows, and life member of the International Association of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows. 


Dr. Loftin is a licensed certified social worker and served as a clinical social worker, social work training specialist, and program manager with the Baltimore City Department of Social Services for over 30 years.  She has also served as Director of the CHOSEN Treatment Foster Care Program for the Baptist Family and Children's Services of Maryland,  an instructor at the Community College of Baltimore, and adjunct professor for the University of Maryland School of Social Work and Morgan State University.


As an ordained Minister of the Gospel,  Dr. Loftin serves as Associate Minister of the Pleasant Rock Baptist, Baltimore, Maryland, where her husband of 55 years, Rev. Dr. Timothy Loftin, is the pastor and organizer, and she is the "Leading Lady".  Her involvement in the ministries of the Pleasant Rock Church includes: instructor for Tuesday and Wednesday Bible Studies, Director of Vacation Bible School, Women's Ministry leader, and choir member. 


The Loftins are the proud parents of three daughters, two sons in-love,  and six grandchildren.


Dr. Loftin's ministry is guided by the scriptural verse, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God through Christ Jesus." Phil. 3:14.
